Companies

You need the capability now, not after a search.

  • An immediate finance gap, a transformation, a leadership absence, a project.
  • Register the gap and how long you need it filled. No cost to register.
  • Matched by hand, by someone who has done the job.

How much value can your business afford to lose while waiting?

An experienced finance professional can be available today. Yet the same company may be four to six months away from having the right person in the seat.

Do you really need a hire yet?

Sometimes the answer is yes. Often the requirement is still taking shape, and the permanent role is being written before anyone has tested what it needs to do.

A permanent hire

The scope is settled, the work is continuous, and the role will look much the same in two years as it does today.

An interim assignment

The work is urgent but the shape of the role is not settled, a project has a defined end, or the business wants evidence before committing to a payroll line.

You do not have to decide today. An interim assignment keeps the work moving and tells you what the permanent role should actually be.

The proposition

Bring the capability in. Make the permanent decision with better information.

Both routes end with the right person in the seat. They differ in what you have to decide first, and how long the work waits while you decide it.

The traditional route

Wait for the permanent hire.

A structured process, but it takes time — and the business carries the gap.

120–180 days

Typical time to appoint

  • The team absorbs the additional workload while the search runs.
  • The role is often defined before the business has fully tested what it needs.
  • A permanent decision is made with limited evidence from the actual operating environment.

The BASPIN route

Bring experienced finance capability in now.

The work moves while the business decides what it needs for the longer term.

2–3 weeks

Typical time to start

  • Experienced finance capability is available in weeks, not months.
  • The individual delivers while working alongside the existing finance team.
  • You see how the capability works in your business — not just on a CV.
  • The assignment helps clarify the permanent requirement, if one is needed.

If the requirement holds and the fit is strong, a permanent conversation is one possible outcome — not the promise attached to every assignment.

Flexibility is the point.

Capability sized to the requirement, for as long as the requirement lasts.

01

Scale it to the work

Two days a week or five, one workstream or the whole function, adjusted as the assignment goes on.

02

Time-boxed by design

A defined start and end, agreed before anyone begins, with an extension only if both sides want one.

03

No permanent commitment

No notice period, no severance, no payroll line that outlives the requirement it was created for.

04

Change the brief midway

If the business learns something in week three, the assignment can follow it rather than wait for a renewal.

Pricing.

Registering a requirement is free. Engaging through the network is on a subscription, and what it costs depends on how many assignments you expect and how long they run — so we would rather ask than guess.

What we will ask

  • The gap you are filling, and for how long.
  • How many assignments you expect over a year.
  • Whether you want verification arranged for shortlisted candidates.

Tell us those three things and you will have a number and a written scope, not a rate card that does not fit.

What the two routes have in common

You still make the permanent decision. You just make it later, with better information.

An interim assignment does not replace the hire. It buys you the months in which the work keeps moving while you decide.

FAQs

When experience cannot wait, but a permanent hire can.

  • An interim assignment provides experienced finance capability for a defined period — typically to manage a transition, fill a capability gap, support a critical project, or provide leadership while a permanent solution is being considered.

  • Permanent hiring takes time, while business requirements cannot always wait. Interim talent gives you access to experienced professionals when you need capability quickly, while giving you the flexibility to evaluate the requirement before making a long-term commitment.

  • Experienced finance professionals, typically with ten to twenty years behind them: controllers, FP&A leaders, senior finance managers, finance transformation leaders and heads of finance. We focus on relevant experience, availability and fit for the assignment.

  • Registering a requirement costs nothing. Engaging through the network is on a subscription; details of the applicable plans and pricing are shared on request.

Background and professional verification is an optional service. Where a candidate is shortlisted or selected and the company specifically requests it, we can arrange the required checks for an additional fee. Verification is not included in the standard subscription pricing.

Experienced talent. Faster access. Flexible commitment.

On verification. BASPIN does not perform background verification in-house. Where a hiring company requires it, it is arranged through an independent, licensed verification partner. Nothing on this page should be read as BASPIN having carried out a check itself.
